My heart slams into my gut.

How long have Travis and Jordan been in the stadium?

Why are they even here?

And: Do they know Campy and I are in the stadium too?

I slip out of the recliner to avoid waking Campy and start pacing back and forth across the clubhouse. While I walk, I draw up a quick plan in my head. I can hide with Campy in a closet. It will be dark and tight, and it will probably be hard to keep Campy from barking. But if he keeps quiet, we can be safe till morning, when all the players and fans and Wildcats staff show up.

I stop pacing. It’s a solid plan, but it doesn’t feel like the right plan. I don’t think I can just sit around, hiding, while the pretend Hemlocks VIPs roam Lookout’s dugout level in the middle of the night, right before the Wildcats’ final game of the season.

I have no idea what Travis and Jordan are up to, but I know it can’t be anything good.
